A SIMPLE IDEA... WITH HUGE IMPLICATIONS

Our Mission

There are three primary objectives at the core of this project:

We believe that improving these societal factors will be beneficial to the residents,

as well as businesses in Daytona and the surrounding area.

To Beautify
the city of Daytona

To Inspire
interactivity & increase social cohesion in the community surrounding the bridge

To Amp Up
economic benefits from tourism & social activity

Our Technology

Using high-quality, dynamic lighting fixtures from Philips Color Kinetics, we will dramatically improve the atmosphere of the bridge in a way that is striking to the public eye and positively impacts the surrounding community. A clear strategy will be used to execute this project efficiently and with the lowest costs possible. Specifically, we will deploy intelligent LED lighting using the structure's existing wiring and conduits, making the overall installation much less labor intensive.

Technology
The light show will be activated/affected by big data and social media activity by the city’s own population, which will foster an emotional connection amongst the community as well as between the community and the cities infrastructure. This could also lead to higher levels of respect for city infrastructure in regards to such activities as vandalism/destruction of property.

Little Rock Bridges, A Case Study

"Bridges remain our simplest metaphor for connectedness and uplifted civic space," said North Little Rock Mayor, Joe A. Smith. "It's great that we celebrate the illumination of these bridges by coming together because that was how this project was made possible."

"This is a project that our citizens can be proud of," said Little Rock Mayor, Mark Stodola. "I trust it will be another draw for tourism and economic development to our great city."

Unified User Interaction

Daytona visitors and residents alike will be able to interact with the bridge lighting in real time via mobile app. Inputs from this app, along with data derived from trending social media keywords, discussions and hashtags in the Daytona area, will come together and directly influence the color and atmosphere of the bridge.

This diplomatic process of choosing color and intensity of lights will create a greater sense of community as people come together in their deciding of what color to make the light show that day. This would foster a sense of friendly competition, similar to athletic events.

For example,  some people would vote for team “blue” while others vote team “red” and there would presumably be a sort of rallying around what color you wanted for that particular show. This will be used in tandem with sports events, elections, holidays and other local events in order to inspire community participation, as well as providing a visual representation of the collective opinion.

Past events have shown this type of dynamic carries into social media in the form of tweets/memes etc., sometimes producing “viral” content which would mean massive amounts of free, positive publicity.

Community Events

The parks located on either side of the bridge can serve as spaces for social functions which could be easily promoted through various mediums of social media, and could be sponsored by local companies, thus creating space for advertising and revenue opportunities for local businesses.

Future Projects

Future Projects

The International Speedway Bridge is just the beginning of our mission!

The impact of this installation will be used as incentive to repeat the project on other bridges, such as the four other bridges located in Daytona Beach as well as the 520 floating bridge in Seattle, Washington. The same processes and opportunities as stated above would apply to potential future bridge LED projects.
